Murchison Falls National Park
NORTH WESTERN UGANDA
Landscape and wildlife photography from Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda's largest protected area at 3,840 square kilometres.
The park spans savanna, woodland, and riverine forest along the Victoria Nile. At its centre, the Nile forces through a 7-metre gorge before dropping 43 metres — the falls that give the park its name. Downstream, the river widens into a broad delta of papyrus wetland and open water channels, supporting populations of hippo, Nile crocodile, and a dense concentration of waterbirds.
The surrounding plains are home to elephant, giraffe, lion, buffalo, and Uganda kob, among others. It is one of the most ecologically varied parks in East Africa
