Lake Bunyonyi
KABALE, WESTERN UGANDA
Landscape photography from Lake Bunyonyi in the Kabale district of southwestern Uganda.
Bunyonyi is one of the deepest lakes in Africa, reaching approximately 900 metres (2,952 feet), and one of very few lakes in the region free of bilharzia and hippo, making it safe for swimming. The lake is dotted with around 29 islands, set within a landscape of steep, terraced hillside.
The series captures the lake surface, island geography, and surrounding terrain โ a quiet, elevated landscape that contrasts sharply with the lower-altitude lakes elsewhere in Uganda.
