Fort Portal
KABAROLE, WESTERN UGANDA
Landscape photography from Fort Portal in Kabarole district, Western Uganda.
The town sits at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the highest ranges in Africa. The surrounding landscape is defined by a network of volcanic crater lakes formed by geological activity thousands of years ago, interspersed with dense tropical forest and cultivated hillside.
The series covers the wider Fort Portal area, including the crater lake formations, highland terrain, and the transition zones between forest and open farmland. It is one of the most geologically distinctive regions in Uganda.
